Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg / Machine Auguries
With AI-generated birdsong under an artificial dawn sky, Machine Auguries warns of infatuation with technology at the expense of nature. With thousands of recordings of wild bird species, Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg has trained machine learning algorithms to develop their song in dialogue, like birds. In the installation, a real dawn chorus slowly transitions into synthetic birdsong, and when it falls silent, we are no longer sure what is real. Machine Auguries reminds us of the impossibility of recreating nature and the urgent need to protect it. As bird populations are decimated, the artist offers a false replica of the dawn.
Aseel AlYaqoub / The View from Above
Aseel AlYaqoub explores the nation as invented and imagined, shaped by maps, architecture, military ceremonies, and cultural heritage. The View from Above marks the first survey of the artist’s decade of archival research and interdisciplinary practice on symbols and narratives connected to Kuwaiti nationhood and Arab identity. Through drawing, sculpture, video and architectural intervention, she uncovers lines of continuity between British colonial rule and the present-day Kuwaiti state. The view from above, a perspective associated with colonial powers and nation-states, offers insights into the mechanisms of nation-building.
Christian Kjellvander
Christian Kjellvander's artistry carries a sense of necessity. Whether the Swedish singer-songwriter has been working with Americana, indie rock, or, more recently, freer experiments with jazz and rock, his visions always come through as crystal clear and uncompromising. Christian Kjellvander made his entrance into the music scene as the frontman of the lo-fi band Loosegoats and later as a celebrated solo artist. With the release of his latest album, Hold Your Love Still, he embarks on a solo tour, making a highly anticipated stop at the Bildmuseet
Michael Lukaszuk
Improvising with Algorithms is a sound performance where Lukaszuk transforms and accompanies improvised sounds created with electronic instruments, in collaboration with a custom-developed AI tool. Michael Lukaszuk is an experimental music composer and researcher based in Umeå.
