The artist Adriana Varejão comes from Brazil. Her expressive paintings has their origin in the colonial history. Thick layers of oil colour wells out like raw meat behind a surface of skin or a facade of porcelain; paintings that bring forward the physical. This is Adriana Varejão's first separate exhibition in Sweden - a warm reunion for Bildmuseet that last year showed one of her works as a part in the selected exhibition S.M.A.K. Varejão also participated in the special exhibition Socialismer at Stockholm Art Fair this year.
