Anna Höglund's Om detta talar man endast med kaniner (Topics of which you only speak with rabbits) is recognised as the Swedish Picture Book of the Year. It will be showcased in an exhibition at Bildmuseet, in conjunction to the winner being announced at Littfest - Umeå International Literature Festival 2014.
The picture book is an art form that can appeal to all ages. Anna Höglund's Om detta talar man endast med kaniner is aimed at teenagers and adults. Citing the prize motivation, Anna Höglund has "created a picture book story that does not undervalue its readers. In poetic text and powerful images she brings us into a young person's unsecured existence. Images referencing to works by other artists give an extra dimension to this tale of alienation, high sensitivity and the actual conditions of growing. It is a magnificent and courageous work that shows the abilities of the picture book to reach readers of all ages, and is also a true aesthetic experience in design, paper and print."
The prize is an initiative by the association Krumelur - Association for Young Words in the North, in cooperation with Umeå Kultur, Kulturföreningen Pilgatan, Bildmuseet, Umeå University, the county library of Västerbotten, Littfest – Umeå International Literature Festival, Mid Sweden University and the Association of Swedish Illustrators and Graphic Designers.
