Through presentations of portfolios, lectures, talks and workshops and individual supervision, Bildmuseet wants to contribute to the development and internationalisation of the visual arts scene in northern Sweden. By encounters between artists in northern Sweden and curators from different parts of the world, we share our international network of contacts.
The Networking North project began in the autumn of 2020 with a digital portfolio presentation where twenty-five artists from the four northern counties introduced themselves to sixteen international curators. During two days, 200 individual conversations were held where the artists presented their work through photos and videos from ongoing projects.
The aim of the project is to increase the artists' network of contacts and at the same time give international curators opportunities to learn more about artists in northern Sweden.
Networking North is run by Bildmuseet in collaboration with the art consultants in the counties of Västerbotten, Norrbotten, Västernorrland and Jämtland. The project can be implemented with the help of three-year support from Region Västerbotten.
